Mason worked in the banking industry for over 24 years, as an Assistant branch manager, loan officer in the lending dept, and in sales, auditing, online banking technical support, and account analysis. He obtained a Master of Science in Accounting at the prestigious Accounting program at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management at the prestigious Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He's very good at detecting business flaws, and the vast array of quantitative skills at his disposal enables him to interpret what numbers mean to a business. Having worked with several small businesses and nonprofits in his banking career, he is familiar with their accounting, auditing, taxation and bookkeeping deficiencies. Mason is a "straight" shooter who warns that "numbers are like DNA: They don't lie if entered correctly", and strongly believes that part of being an effective and responsible business owner is "listening to what the numbers and the customers are telling you".
